Hey Kid Kuba, it’s so cool to have you feature . Your latest 6 track ep KUBA’S ANTHOLOGY is a real treat. How did the project first come about?
KID KUBA : I’ve always been interested in making a body of work that encapsulated my artistry as a whole and I feel like Land of Oranges was the first step in that direction. Around the time of writing it I was going through a rough period mentally as well as getting through a difficult patch of writer's block. Land of Oranges was made back in 2022 and was planned for numerous different projects over the past four years but none of them stuck. I built it out from there starting with a ‘prequel’ in a sense to 'Land of Oranges' in the form of the first track ‘fallen.’ and then everything else came together naturally.
What do you hope listeners take from the EP, are there expectations from this release?
KID KUBA : What I expect people to take away from the project is just to be as open and see-through as you can be with your art. I feel like this project holds a lot of vulnerability and there’s a lot of openness within it. There are aspects of myself that I never thought that I would be able to share and now I feel absolutely blessed knowing that I was able to channel that into my music. I truly do hope that my music will encourage a lot of people to do the same within their craft. Everybody likes to be closed off, to be stoic and put up walls and I feel like this is the first step to you knowing how to tear them down.

Now you have a fantastic range of records featuring different energy , story topics and more . What was your favourite track from your project and why?
KID KUBA : That’s a very difficult question to answer because I have a lot of favourites for different reasons. My top three are Land of Oranges because it’s the nucleus of the entire project, Hard to Hate because it’s a song that I’m using to branch out into a style of music I’ve always been interested in (plus I really enjoy the song) and Not Safe For Work or NSFW. That was the song that reminded me to have fun within my music and it brought out the silliness and whimsical nature that I’ve always wanted to channel into my music. If I was to choose my very favourite song it would be Land of Oranges because again it is the nucleus to the entire project as well as my favourite verse I’ve ever written. I suppose We All Cry as well because that’s the most emotional I’ve been on a song, but if I was going for my top pick it would be Land of Oranges.

You've released some impressive records in the past including The Prayer, Achilles, Bounce and more leading up to your debut EP . How would you describe your growth as an artist?
KID KUBA : If I’m being completely honest, my growth feels somewhat exponential, I don’t feel like I could explain it in words, but I’ll still try. There’s been a lot that has happened within short spans of time that I like to call Seasons or Eras (not a shout out to Taylor Swift). Within these short spans of time I feel like I’ve been propelled forward in my artistry whether it was through the people I’ve met, the changes I’ve had in my ideology and my mindset, or my experiences within making music that has changed drastically since I was young. I was 12 writing lyrics and raps in my notebook and now I’ll feel out the song rather than just writing down words that work or rhyme. I feel like it’s been a great journey so far and I’m excited to see what I make in the future. I know I can only go up from here when you’re so heavily invested and you enjoy something so much.

What advice can you give the younger generation who want to pursue a creative career or achieve big dreams ? KID KUBA: I suppose the best bit of advice that I can give is to not care about the opinions that people may have on your craft because everybody’s gonna think something about it, but no one other than you can make it. What’s important is knowing your reason for what you do, and as long as you enjoy it and you’re happy with the idea you have, then don’t allow anyone to change that. They don’t get to make the decisions on your craft at the end of the day, YOU DO.
Lastly, what can fans and supporters look forward to in the new year, are there any music videos, collabs or live shows coming up ?
KID KUBA: There are always shows in mind and in the works, as for what they can look forward to, new music is on the way. I’m in mixtape mode as of right now so soon you will be introduced to a little someone that I like to call the BIOBABY. I’ll say nothing more than that, maybe afterwards there could be an album on the way. I’ll have to check in and confirm, so we’ll see.
