1) Greetings June , congratulations on your EP Heartbreak Hours , its a great body of work and we love it. Could you tell us about how it first came about ?
JUNE : This project is a project I’ve always dreamt of doing - simply because its exact vibe is the vibe i listen to the most. That slow sexy R&B vibe is what i listen to the most so i feel so proud of my self to be able to create something that can compete with the tracks i listen to such as Partynextdoor , Tory Lanez & Bryson Tiller
2) We appreciate your music . What do you hope fans take from this release, do you have expectations ?
JUNE : The name for this vibe is Dark R&B which I know it’s popular in America but I've never seen a UK artist bring that here so I’m glad to be the first and there’s so much more to come. HRTBRK HRS. Will hopefully be a project I can continue to develop with a part 2,3 and so on! People will know what to expect when they see the title HRTBRK HRS.
3) You have released previous projects such as your debut EP Self love and melanism in 2019. How would you describe your growth as an artist from those to now with your new EP ?
JUNE : I mean it’s been a crazy journey! People always say even tho my sound has changed drastically from then you should always be proud of your journey! Because to be honest we never stop evolving we never stop learning and most importantly we never stop growing
4) What was the inspiration behind the new EP did you draw from any of your musical influences or heroes growing up ?
JUNE : My main inspiration was simply that this sound is so successful in America and it’s a sound I love so much so why not bring it here! I love doing things that haven’t been done before and I hope to continue to push and grow this sound here in the UK even if I’m the only one doing so.
5) As a black R&B talent coming up we know it hasn't been easy in the industry. What advice would you give young creatives who want to have success in music ?
JUNE : Just believe in your vision! Always be open to new ideas and opinions but always believe in your vision and take time with it don’t rush the process! The best things always take time! Stay consistent always even when it feels like nobody is listening just keep working like there’s millions listening
6) Lastly, what can we expect from you moving forward, any more projects on the way, more music videos or more live shows ?
JUNE: I really wanna get some music videos done and out there I know that’s my area of weakness if I’m being really honest but that’s a cycle I really wanna break! Also wanna continue the sequel of HRTBRK HRS - hoping to have Pt.2 done and released before the end of the year but in October I will be releasing a 10 track project full of songs I have been gatekeeping for the last 2 -3 years! It will be titled AURA .
