Livi Tiz shares more on her new single Shadow, her growth and what’s next for the rising star

UK R&B singer-songwriter Livi Tiz has been popping in the music scene for a while . Making her debut in 2019 with her infectious single Know Better and soon followed up the buzz with her previous popular singles such as Trying to say, Beautiful eyes beautiful lies, Miss Me, Candy Darling, Upgrade and many more. With her bold visuals and expressive and gorgeous personality it's safe to say that Livi is on her way to be one of the most favourite artists in the UK. Over the years she has built a sound which has poise, elegance and powerful magic that still stands strong til this day. Now the R&B sensation returns with her brand new single SHADOW. Hailing from London’s vibrant music scene,  including a feature on Amazon Music’s Top 20 Introducing: R&B playlist in 2020 and collaborations with The Compozers’ producer C Biggz LIVI TIZ is carving out a space all her own. After years of honing her craft, she’s unleashing a bold new chapter, and Shadow is just the beginning. Could you tell us about how it first came about ? LIVI: I was working in the studio and the producer I was working with shared with me an instrumental that his friend made. He mentioned his friend wasn’t a producer but was super talented and I heard the track and instantly loved it. It felt magical (Shoutout to @Jossryanmusic for intro’ing me to the talented @neter_krafts) I wanted the lyrics to reflect that and what's more magical than having a constant in your life, someone that's there for you at all times, someone who moves with you through the sunny days and is the result of the light through the darkness. Just like a shadow. So I wrote a song about how I love and Shadow is just that, a description of my unwavering and constant loyalty in relationships.

2)    We appreciate you. This project is really a step up from your previous ones like Dear Diary, Miss Me, Trying to say, Candy Darling , Know Better and more. How would you describe this new single compared to your previous work ? LIVI: Thank you! I wanted to reflect the topic of the track with my vocals so I really focused on vocal layering, textures and echo/reverb effects when i recorded, when you hear my voice I want you to hear what could be described as a shadow of my voice so you will often hear a slight backing vocal delay which is purposeful and was quite exciting to play around with. I think I’m having fun with how I record now more than ever and pushing myself to try things that may be outside of my comfort zone which is something I’ve not always had the luxury to do when recording previously.

3)    You’ve released some incredible records over the years. What do you hope the fans learn from this single ?

 LIVI: I hope people can take a piece of love & light (no pun intended lol) People don’t love with their full selves anymore, so I hope listeners can feel like real lovers still exist and if they feel shame about loving fully, that they can rid themselves of the shame and give their all to the person they love without holding back.

4) It must be an overly exciting journey for you, what does it feel like when you’re making these records, do the lyrics come first or are you inspired by the production first, ?

LIVI : Typically I have always been inspired by the production first but as of recently I’ve had a lot to say and a lot of feelings that I have been jotting down in song form. The lyrics have been coming faster than the tracks so from the new year you’ll be hearing tracks which are a lot more raw because I’ve been learning to translate my feelings into art as I immediately experience them which hasn’t been the case with some of my previous tracks. I do like production invoking emotions but sometimes its not always as raw as the in the moment feeling. 

5)  You’ve gain tons of experience making various types of records, performing on stage and building an impressive streak of popular jams. What advice can you get the younger generation about living their dreams?

LIVI: I’m still learning everyday so my advice is constantly evolving but all I can say is just go for it! When you have a spark within you to do something just do it, it doesn’t have to be perfect and polished, you owe it to yourself to put it out there and you will always learn along the way. Most importantly explore, try different things, have fun and don’t shy away from giving it a go.

6)  Lastly, what can we expect from you moving forward, any more live shows, maybe more music videos or maybe a Christmas song / project ?

LIVI: ‘Shadow’ is my early Christmas gift to you all. I will also be doing one show on this side of the year at the end of November so follow me to see when it gets announced. My next track will be out in Q1 of 2026 maybe a little Valentines gift… But I have been working on my vulnerability with my art and will be sharing songs which are a lot closer to home, I will also be exploring expressing my art in multiple forms so hold tight!
